From Burnout to Balance.
How hard is it to start over? I’ve thought about this often. In life, we inevitably find ourselves at the start of a new journey over and over again. For me, this particular journey began with an important lesson in self-care.
Who hasn’t pushed themselves to the brink, chasing success, only to realize that the closer we get to our goals, the farther we seem from the self-care routines we promised ourselves? Burnout becomes the unwanted reward for all our hard work.
I’ve learned that healing begins with self-care, and for me, it had to become more than an afterthought. However, the idea of building a self-care routine can feel overwhelming when life seems like a constant race to solve one obstacle after another. With so many wellness practices and diets to explore, even starting can feel like an intimidating task.
So here I am, starting over once again. This time, I realized I needed to keep it simple. I sought a practice that wouldn’t demand too much time yet would bring a sense of calm and solace.
It began with tea.
One morning, I brought a warm cup of Rooibos tea to my nose, savoring its earthy aroma. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and let the fragrance awaken my senses. As I exhaled, my shoulders dropped, and a small smile crept across my lips. In an instant, my body relaxed, and a wave of peace washed over me.
For just a moment, everything fell into place. And with that single breath, my journey toward tea and wellness began.
For me, wellness had to start with sleep. Like 33.2% of Americans, I struggle to get the recommended 7–8 hours of sleep. Really, who does? The stresses of daily life, compounded by interactions with my external environment, were wreaking havoc on my rest.
That’s when I decided to create a solution—a tea blend specifically designed to help with sleep disturbances. From that decision, the Serenity Blend was born.
